UW Medicine Regional Burn Center Patient Handbook

Two clinicians walking a patient down the hallway

At the UW Medicine Regional Burn Center, we believe in always putting the patient first by providing the safest care and focusing on serving the patient and family. You are an essential part of your health-care team, and we look forward to partnering with you in your recovery. Our Patient Booklet provides additional information about patient care, education and healing, our multidisciplinary burn team and more.

Peer Mentoring

After a burn injury, it is often helpful to talk to someone who has been through a similar experience (a peer) and has made a successful adjustment. Our peer-mentoring program utilizes the Phoenix Society’s SOAR (Survivors Offering Assistance to Recovery) program, which matches peer mentors with current patients. For more information, please call the UW Burn Center SOAR Peer Mentor Coordinator, Shelley Wiechman, PhD. at 206-744-4439.
